Factory Reset – MAKI Ultra

Factory Reset – MAKI Ultra

Overview

There are two methods to perform a factory reset on the MAKI Ultra: via the BirdUI (web interface) or using a physical button shortcut on the camera. Both methods restore the camera to factory default settings, including the administrator password.

⚠️ Important: The physical button shortcut requires firmware 6.1.020 or later. If your camera is running an earlier firmware version, you must use the BirdUI method or perform a firmware recovery. See the note below.

Method 1 — BirdUI (Web Interface)

Log in to the camera's BirdUI (default password: birddog)
Navigate to System → Reset System Default
Confirm the reset when prompted
Allow the camera to reboot — this may take up to 2 minutes
Log back in using the default password: birddog

Method 2 — Physical Button Shortcut

Minimum firmware required: 6.1.020

Ensure the camera is powered on and fully booted
Press and hold the AF and MENU buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds
Release both buttons — the factory reset will begin immediately upon release
Wait for the camera to complete its self-test and reboot
Log in using the default password: birddog

Notes
The MAKI Ultra does not have a dedicated physical reset button
Firmware versioning for the MAKI Ultra is non-sequential — the 6.1.x series is newer than the 8.5.x series. Always refer to the BirdDog Downloads page to confirm the latest release
Always confirm the current firmware version in BirdUI → Dashboard → System Details → Firmware Version after any update or recovery
