BirdDog X1 | X1 30x | X1 Ultra Firmware Release Notes

Firmware Version 6.3.102 (Released 06/01/2026)

New Features and Improvements:
  1. Updated NDI Library to version 6.3. Including Announce support of detailed sender/receiver stream information when connected to an NDI Discovery Server. 
  2. BirdDog Connect is now built directly into the BirdUI. 
  3. X1 Cameras are now Dante Ready. Activate Dante AV-H via Dante Activator.
    1. Once activated a green check mark will appear next to the Dante AV-H field in the AV Setup section of the BirdUI, and the option to [ENABLE] or [DISABLE] the stream will become available.
  4. Control Tally from Blackmagic ATEM now supported natively in BirdUI AV Setup.
  5. Updated base colour profile to improve out of box matching between models. 
  6. Updated layout of BirdUI CamControl to show video preview, PTZ, focus, and preset control fixed at the top of the page. 
  7. Added [Speed Match] toggle to BirdUI CamControl. Toggle ON to adapt Pan/Tilt speeds to current zoom position.  
  8. Added [HOME] button the BirdUI CamControl to recall the cameras default position. This is not a configurable preset.
  9. Auto Focus Sensitivity now defaults to Low. 
  10. Added Colour Gain control to Colour Matrix.
  11. Added VISCA command for Tally Rest State, and Custom RGB Color.
  12. Improved the sensitivity of BirdUI Joystick control.  
  13. Added Device Time support to the System section of the BirdUI. 
    1. Note: The Device Time will need to be reset each time the camera is rebooted. 
This release includes the following fixes:
  1. Fixed an issue where camera would not accept a DHCP address from server there is no DNS present. 
  2. Camera now displays hostname in DHCP Option 12 requests. 
  3. Updated mDNS information.
  4. Fixed an issue where BirdDog Name field was limited in characters. New limit is 63.
  5. Fixed an issue where NDI Discovery Server IP Address was limited in characters. New limit is 190.
  6. Fixed an issue where Pan/Tilt/Zoom Speed changes were not being reflected correctly.
  7. Fixed an issue where RTSP Authentications fields were not editable. 
  8. Fixed an issue where screensaver frame would render incorrectly when turning Stream to Network OFF.
  9. Fixed an issue where SRT Caller Stream ID would only accept capitalized letters. 
  10. Fixed an issue where Auto Focus Zone [Front] would change to [Top].
  11. Fixed an issue where changing Colour Space setting would not be retained on reboot. 
  12. Fixed an issue where camera would lose focus and zoom control.
  13. Fixed an issue where DHCP Gateway Address wouldn't update on initial reboot when switching from Static to DHCP. 

Firmware Version 6.1.071 (Released 11/12/2025 for X1 and 11/24/2025 for X1 30x & X1 Ultra)

New Features and Improvements:
  1. Introduces Iris embedded compatibility. Connect directly to Iris via the cameras BirdUI.

Firmware Version 6.1.070 (Released 11/5/2025)

New Features and Improvements:
  1. X1 Ultra gains Teleconvert Mode in Cam Control Tab. (Turns camera into 24x zoom in HD resolutions)
  2. New PTZ Control Joystick in BirdUI.
  3. Added RGB Color Cycle, Vegas Mode, as a Tally Rest State option. (Cycles through 7 colors)
  4. Added Custom RGB Color as a Tally Reset State option. (Select from one of 7 available colors)
  5. Introducing Custom Logo option for e-ink display. (File must be BMP 1-bit, Black and White only, not grayscale, and 128 x 296 pixels)
  6. Updated X1 Ultra Auto Focus version to improve overall performance. 
  7. Firmware Rollback Protection: Manual downgrade of firmware is now disabled after update to guarantee the use of the latest stable/secure version. (Contact help@birddog.tv if there is a need or query about downgrading firmware version)
This release includes the following fixes:
  1. Fixed an issue where camera would auto focus when focus mode was set to manual. 
  2. Fixed an issue where Wi-Fi signal strength would not show correctly.
  3. Fixed an issue where control of Zoom was always slow regardless of Zoom Speed setting. 
  4. Fixed an issue where when Noise Reduction was set to 0 Noise Reduction processing was still happening.
  5. Minor fixes to NDI commands.
  6. Minor fixes to VISCA commands.
Known Limitations:
  1. Decoder may become unstable when both encode and decode streams are using higher bitrates.
  2. PTZ Speed Settings are only reflective of control from BirdUI.
  3. User Guide to be updated.

Firmware Version 6.1.064 (Released 7/30/2025)

New Features and Improvements:
  1. Added a early look at multilingual support for the BirdUI. 
  2. Updated BirdUI Text [Restore Factory Defaults] now reads [Factory Reset] - the functionality has not changed.
  3. Added a shutter speed option of 1/50 when using manual exposure mode.
This release includes the following fixes:
  1. Fixed an issue where AI Tracking would not work as expected after a firmware update unless the mode was toggled.
  2. Minor fixes to the API integration.
  3. Minor fixes to VISCA commands.

Firmware Version 6.1.062

This release includes the following fixes:
  1. Fixed an issue where the TELE and WIDE Zoom controls switched in the BirdUI.
  2. Fixed an issue where Preset Recall Speed did not match setting selected in BirdUI.

Firmware Version 6.1.061

New Features and Improvements:
  1. Updated default Encoder Mode to HIGH with a GOP of 20, and Bitrate of 31.
  2. Increased maximum preset speed and decreased minimum speed for finer control and faster transitions.
  3. Optimized performance of Auto Focus. 
  4. VISCA Control updates for KBD compatibility and 3rd party control.
  5. Improved color accuracy, reduced color shift, and enhanced edge detail.
This release includes the following fixes:
  1. Fixed an issue where the camera would lose connectivity when Ethernet and Wi-Fi were both connected and Ethernet connection was removed. 
  2. Fixed an issue where the resolution 2160p25 would output incorrectly via HDMI output. 
  3. Fixed an issue where the BirdUI header Decode Mode & Source Status would show "none" when not on the Dashboard tab. 
  4. Fixed an issue where Backlight Compensation button in the BirdUI was not working as expected.
  5. Fixed an issue where Iris could not be set to 2.0 when in MANUAL Exposure mode. 
  6. Fixed various minor issues in the API responses and documentation

Firmware Version 6.1.059

New Features and Improvements:
  1. Introduced new Advanced AI Tracking controls in the CamControl tab of BirdUI.
  2. BirdDog API is now fully available. See the documentation here: RESTful API.
  3. Improved AI Tracking Character Position accuracy.
  4. Enhanced AI Tracking performance.
  5. NDI|HX3 Presets: Added NDI|HX3 presets to Primary Encode Settings in the AV Setup tab.

  1. Resolved an issue where the Device Restart button on the BirdUI Dashboard did not function correctly.

  4. Corrected an issue where the Video Frame Rate was displayed incorrectly on the BirdUI Dashboard for NDI outputs.

  6. Resolved an issue that caused the BirdUI to refresh unexpectedly when selecting sections in the CamControl tab.
  7. Addressed various cosmetic WebUI issues.
  8. Fixed an issue where the AI Tracking indicator could become stuck.
  9. Resolved an issue where certain VISCA commands were not functioning as expected.
  10. Fixed an issue where BirdUI did not properly refresh to reflect recent changes.
  11. Resolved a crash issue that occurred when turning Privacy Mode off while the unit was in Privacy Mode.
  12. Fixed an issue where, in Super Fine mode, the maximum manually-entered value was incorrectly limited to 99.
  13. Addressed an issue causing the BirdUI Video Preview to appear out of focus.
  14. Fixed an issue where the video stream could go out of sync if frame drops occurred.

  2. Improved camera control functionality when using both NDI and VISCA-IP control simultaneously.

  4. Added a VISCA command to enable AI tracking.
  5. Added a VISCA command to control the Tally light state.
  6. Redesigned the CamControl panel in BirdUI to include preset controls

This release includes the following fixes:
  1. Fixed an issue where the white balance could not be controlled manually over VISCA.
  2. Resolved an issue where the "Configure Source" shortcut in NDI Studio Monitor and the e-ink QR code on the camera incorrectly pointed to the wrong IP address when Wi-Fi was enabled.
  3. Fixed an issue where preset recall via UVC did not function as expected.

Firmware Version 2.4.050

This release includes the following fixes:
  1. Fixed an issue where high-precision control with NDI Studio Monitor was non-functional.
  2. Resolved an issue preventing the OSD menu from opening via VISCA control.
  3. Fixed an issue where 'Image Settings Reset' would cause the camera to reboot.
  4. Fixed a crash in the API server when multiple calls were sent simultaneously.
  5. Corrected an issue where the image would display a purple tint when the white balance was set to 'Indoor' or 'Outdoor' and saved to a preset.
  6. Updated the UVC camera name to "BirdDog UVC Camera."
  7. Fixed an issue where audio gain values were displayed as integers instead of in dB.
  8. Corrected an issue where 'Shutter Speed' values displayed incorrectly in the 'Exposure' menu.
  9. Fixed an issue where presets saved to 'CAMERA' were not recalled correctly.
  10. Resolved an issue where presets were not recalled properly from the IR remote or NDI Studio Monitor.
  11. Fixed an issue where zoom speed was not controlled by the 'Preset Speed' setting.
  12. Fixed an issue where the 'Latency' slider in the 'Secondary Encoder' menu would not update.

New Features and Improvements:
  1. Added a 'Preset Speed' control setting to the OSD.
  2. Added a requirement to change the default BirdUI password upon initial login.
  3. Improved the Auto Focus algorithms for enhanced performance.
